A low factory price is not enough. For products to be used in Nordic operations, documentation and inspection are required. Here are the standards we normally request from our factory contacts and what they actually mean.
Factory management systems
Says something about how the manufacturer works – not about the individual product.
ISO 9001
Quality management: production and inspection are followed up.
ISO 14001
Environmental management system at the factory.
ISO 45001
Occupational health and safety for staff.
BSCI
Social responsibility in the supply chain.
Product safety in Europe
Determines whether the product may be sold and used on our market.
CE
Conformity with EU requirements – the manufacturer's declaration (DoC) is checked.
UKCA
The UK equivalent of CE.
GS
German product safety mark, issued by a testing institute.
ETL / Intertek
Independent electrical safety testing of series products.
Chemicals and materials

REACH
The EU chemicals regulation – restricted substances are disclosed.
